1,700 tons of straw and silage in Wem barn fire

About 1,700 tons of silage and straw have been involved in fire.

The blaze broke out at Moston, Lee Brockhurst near Wem, at 3.14am yesterday.

Four fire appliances including the heavy pumping unit and the water carrier, were sent to the scene from Hodnet, Oswestry, Prees and Wem stations.

An Operations officer was in attendance.

Four main jets along with the unit were used to put out the fire in an open barn.

The operation took the crews on scene almost three hours.

The blaze was out shortly before 6am.
