Motorcyclist seriously injured in crash with van on A49 in Shropshire

A motorcyclist suffered potentially serious injuries in a crash with a van in in north Shropshire

Crews from Wem Fire Station and the Midlands Air Ambulance were called to the scene on the A49 at Acton Reynald, near Shawbury, around 1.30pm on Tuesday.

Fire crews provided casualty care until the arrival of the air ambulance.

The A49 was closed in both directions for the safety of crews and the casualty.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called to reports of a collision between a motorbike and a van on the A49, near to Acton Reynald, at 1.33pm.

"An ambulance and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford attended the scene. On arrival we discovered one patient, a man, who was the motorcyclist.

"He was treated for potentially serious injuries before being taken to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital by land ambulance. The two occupants of the van were uninjured in the collision."
