Five arrested after town centre attack leaves man needing hospital treatment

Five people have been arrested after a 24-year old man was assaulted in Market Drayton at the weekend.

Police say the attack happened in Shropshire Street in the town just after midnight on Saturday.

The victim needed hospital treatment, though his injuries are not thought to be life changing.

Five people have now been arrested on suspicious of causing grievous bodily harm.

A spokesman for West Mercia police said: "Three men aged 24 and two 22 year-olds from Market Drayton have been arrested on suspicion of causing grevious bodily harm. They are currently on police bail."
