The committee and congregation of Christ Church in Little Drayton, Market Drayton, knitted and crocheted 300 poppies for a display outside the church bell tower.

Committee member Margaret Taylor said: "The decision to make it was a joint one by ladies of Christ Church.

"There are approximately 300 poppies in the display, all were made by the church ladies with the exception of one batch which came from Bristol, from a friend of a churchgoer's parent.

"Much interest has been shown and many photos taken by passers-by.

"The comment was made by those concerned in the making of it that if it was bringing some memories and joy to the older generation who still have memories of the Great War, they would all be thrilled."
