Man killed as crash closes A529 near Market Drayton

A man died after the car he was driving left a road near Market Drayton and hit a tree.

The driver was travelling in a blue Ford Focus along the A529 in Adderley when the collision happened at about 11.30am on Saturday.

The emergency services closed the A529 Adderley Road, with motorists were being advised to avoid the area.

Inspector Ian Williams, of West Mercia Police, said: "This incident was a single vehicle collision. The car left the road and hit a tree. The lone male occupant was declared deceased by the ambulance service.

"The A529 between Adderley and Market Drayton will be subject to restrictions while we carry out post collision inquiries.

"The man's next of kin have not yet been informed."

Inspector Williams said witnesses to the crash or anyone with information should phone the police on 101 quoting incident number 266-S2010/18.
