Sightings will be less common soon as the creatures are due to hibernate between November and the middle of March.

A map has been on display in the town library since August, and children and adults alike have been dropping in to indicate where they have spotted the spiky mammals.

The map now has 67 spots spread across the town and surrounding area, with a large number of sightings in Little Drayton in the west of town.

The opening of the survey on August 18 was accompanied by a day of hedgehog-themed activity, with expert Richard Stapleton bringing some into the library. The day was attended by more than 100 people and also included crafts.
