Car destroyed in fire on A53 at Market Drayton

A car was completely destroyed in a fire in Market Drayton in the early hours of this morning.

Firefighters were called to the scene on the A53, in Market Drayton, shortly after 3am.

The fire involved one saloon car, following an earlier crash.

Three crews, including the rescue tender, were mobilised from Market Drayton and Wellington stations. An operations officer was also in attendance.

They used breathing apparatus, a hosereel jet and thermal imaging camera to tackle the blaze.

West Midlands Ambulance Service and West Mercia Police were also called to the scene.

A tweet from Market Drayton fire station said: "Fire is of doubtful origin, any information please call police on 101."
