Police, firefighters, ambulance and air ambulance staff were called to a section of the road near Hinstock, at the junction with Hatton Road, at 12.18pm.

They found a transit van on its side after the two vehicles collided.

West Mercia Police closed the A41 and said it would remain closed for some time.

Claire Brown said on behalf of the West Midlands Ambulance Service: "We were called to the A41 after reports of an incident involving a heavy goods vehicle and a van.

"Both drivers are being treated on the scene for minor injuries."

Three fire engines were sent out from Hodnet, Market Drayton and Wellington.

Crews made the scene safe, disconnecting both vehicles' batteries.
