Calls to install new post box in village near Market Drayton

A parish council is attempting to get a post box reinstated in a village after concerns were raised by residents.

Hodnet Parish Council is contacting Royal Mail about installing a new post box to serve elderly residents living in and near Station Road.

The previous phone box in the area was removed following the relocation of the post office last year.

The post office closed and relocated 600 metres to Hodnet Village Stores in Church Street.

Jane Evans, clerk to Hodnet Parish Council, said: "The post box was located on private property near where the post office was and was removed. One was never reinstated.

"It is predominantly older people in the area who use the postal service and they have contacted the parish council."
