Anwyl Construction Company Ltd submitted the appearance, landscaping and layout of 156 homes that it will build on land west of Tilstock Road in Whitchurch.

Outline planning permission to demolish Mossfields Farm and build up to 500 homes, plus a convenience store, new primary school and sports pitches was granted by Shropshire Council in May 2015.

Shropshire Council planning officer Richard Denison said: “Phase one is in two parts.

“A small section to the north of Moss Villa and Mosslands Farm, both of these dwellings will remain and will over time be enclosed by the new development.

“The second part of the site is to the south, closer to the bypass but with the allocated education land between the proposed housing and the bypass. ”

He added: “Later phases will complete the development approved at outline and further consents will be required to deal with these later phases.”

The mix of homes varies from two-bedroom to four-bedroom, and includes 13 different housing types.

It also includes 16 affordable homes, four of which will be shared ownership.

The original application by Gladman Developments Ltd for the 27.47 hectare site was backed by Whitchurch Town Council which backed the creation of public open spaces, an equipped children’s play area and a pond.

They also called for the then proposed length of the development timeframe of up to 15 years be “greatly reduced”.

It received four letters of objections which included the pressure it would put on amenities such as the doctor’s surgery.
