Becky Stevens, from Cockshutt, near Ellesmere, made a promise to her aunt Lola Owen last year that she would shave her hair to raise funds for the Lingen Davies Cancer Appeal.

Last year Mrs Owen from Bomere Heath, was diagnosed with cancer and given 10 months to live.

Mrs Stevens, a care co-ordinator, married Chris Stevens, 32, in Mexico on May 8 this year, and before Mrs Owen became too ill, she helped Mrs Stevens choose her wedding dress, which is when the promise was made.

Mrs Stevens's aunt died in January this year aged 70.

The 27-year-old ended her wedding party celebrations at Cockshutt Millennium Hall with a head shave on Saturday, and has already smashed her target of £500.

She said: "My hair was long, just below my shoulders and I've always it that way, but it's all for a good cause.

"I'm hoping to raise as much as possible, I'm really happy to have hit my target."
