Pedestrian airlifted to hospital after being hit by lorry on A5 in Shropshire

A man was airlifted to hospital with multiple injuries today after he was hit by a lorry on the A5 in Shropshire.

The accident happened at Nesscliffe, close to the Felton Butler roundabout.

Emergency services say the pedestrian was in collision with the heavy goods vehicle close to the Felton Butler roundabout just after 11am.

West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman Jamie Arrowsmith, said: “Crews arrived to find a man, believed to be in his 50s, who had been involved in a collision with a lorry.

“He received treatment for multiple injuries and a slightly reduced level of consciousness. He was immobilised and airlifted to the major, regional trauma centre at the Royal Stoke University Hospital for further treatment.”

The A5 was closed as the emergency services dealt with the accident. Motorists were diverted off the trunk road.
