Child airlifted as four injured in crash

A child was airlifted and three other casualties also taken to hospital following a crash near Welshpool.

Police said none of the injuries was believed to be life threatening.

The two-vehicle collision happened at about 1.20pm on Sunday on the A483 between Welshpool and Ardleen and involved a black Vauxhall Corsa and a blue Ford Fiesta.

A child was flown by air ambulance to Alder Hey Children's Hospital in Liverpool, while three adults were taken by land ambulance to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.

The busy trunk road was closed until just before 5pm with diversions put in place.
