The Embroiderers Guild is organising a series of exhibitions nationwide to commemorate the centenary of the ending of the Great War, and has invited between 100 and 200 embroiderers to make a heart to commemorate the event, themed to connect with anyone or any group involved in the conflict.

The completed hearts will be included in exhibitions throughout the country.

Joy, who is a member of Newtown Local History Group, has recently written a book called Newtown In The Great War.
