Man fined for assaulting PCSO and damaging police car

A man has been fined for assaulting a community support officer and attempting to damage a police car.

Patrick Mooney, 23, of Commercial Street, Newtown, admitted three charges when he appeared before Welshpool Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

Mooney assaulted PCSO Stewart and attempted to damage the window of the car belonging to Dyfed-Powys Police in Newtown on August 22.

Mooney also admitted a further charge of using threatening words or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress.

He was fined £270 by magistrates and ordered to pay the office £50 in compensation.

Mooney was also made to pay £85 costs and a £30 victim surcharge.
