At the annual meeting of the council Councillor Simon Baynes was elected Mayor of Llanfyllin with Councillor Tracey Windsor elected deputy.

Councillor Baynes said: “My predecessor as Mayor, David Goodman, did a fantastic job over the last two years. I would also like to thank the retiring Deputy Mayor George Stroud who served the town with distinction.

"I look forward to supporting everyone in the town over the next two years and plan to introduce a regular Town Council newsletter providing an update on our activities and a full list of the Town Councillors and their contact details.

"I am keen to improve further the appearance of the town and particularly support shops, the weekly market and the new Christmas market."

His chosen charities as mayor are Concertina - Music for the Elderly, www.concertinamusic.org.uk and the Master’s House Appeal at Y Dolydd Llanfyllin Workhouse, www.the-workhouse.org.uk.
