Give us second Brexit vote, says straw poll
It's in no way official, but according to this poll there should be a second referendum on Brexit.
A 'Brexitometer' at Knighton Show and Carnival found that 53 out of 85 people who took part – 62 per cent – backed a 'people's vote' on the final deal secured by the Government.
Twenty-six – or 31 per cent – said they were opposed to another referendum, while just six – representing seven per cent – said they were unsure.
The poll was certainly unscientific, asking those taking part to place a star sticker in the category they agreed with.
But organisers say the fun exercise also reveals a very real appetite among people to have another say on Brexit.
Pro-EU campaign group Open Britain has been holding similar roadshows across the UK, using stickers and an A-board.
Earlier this month, more than 250 people took part in a similar exercise in Castle Square, Ludlow, when a Brexitometer was set up by supporters of the European Movement. A spokesman for the group said that people voted three to one in favour of a second referendum. He added that by more than nine to one people responding said they thought Brexit was 'going badly'.
European Movement organiser Sylvia Duffy said: “Politicians like Ludlow’s MP Phillip Dunne need to take notice of the overwhelming support there now is for the people to have the final say on Brexit.”
