Called ‘Stations at Stations’, a special train will stop at each station along the line for readings and prayers telling the Easter story of the crucifixion on Good Friday.

The event is sponsored by the churches in Tywyn. The Right Rev Christopher Hill, chaplain of the Dean Forest Railway and former Bishop of Guildford, will attend this spiritual pilgrimage.

An annual event, it attractions people to Tywyn from across the UK.

This year, the train will leave Tywyn Wharf Station at 4pm on March 30 returning at 8.30pm. Tea and coffee will be served during the journey.

There is a small charge of £2 each for adults with children travelling free. In addition, there will also be an opportunity for donations to be made in aid of the Diocese of Matabeleland in Africa.

Bookings can be made by contacting the railway on Tel: 01654 710472 or via email at enquiries@talyllyn.co.uk.

Talyllyn Railway is a narrow gauge railway opened for goods traffic in 1865 and, shortly after, for passenger services which have operated every year since between Tywyn on the west coast of Wales and Nant Gwernol just over seven miles inland.

In 1951, operation of the line was taken over by Talyllyn Railway Preservation Society and became the world’s first preserved railway.

Operation of the line is primarily by volunteers from all walks of life, with a small paid staff. It is now a major tourist attraction in Mid Wales, contributing significantly to the area’s economy.
