It is like stepping into Narnia.

The spectacular Llanrhaeadr waterfall has taken on a new beauty with the spray frozen into fantastic icicles.

And with temperatures remaining below zero all week the ice is set to get even more impressive.

Photographs of the waterfall were posted on the Borderland Tourism facebook page.

However visitors wanting to see the sight are being warned not to venture there until the thermometer rises.

Karen Pringle from the tourism organisation said: "The waterfall is well worth visiting but please take care, we don't want people getting stuck!

Phil Facey who runs the Waterfall Cafe at the foot of the falls said today the road from the village of Llanrhaedr was treacherous on Wednesday.

"It was like a sheet of ice so, unless you have a four by four vehicle I would suggest waiting until we get a bit of a thaw," he said.

"Once the waterfall ices up it does stay like that for a few days even when the temperature rises."

"It is like living in Narnia up here at the moment. The snow deadens all the sound and there really is something very 'other world' about the waterfall."

The waterfall is listed as one of the Seven Wonders of Wales and, at 240 feet high is the single drop waterfall in Britain.
