'We love you James, please come back safe' - Family of James Corfield, 19, missing from Royal Welsh Show make heartbreaking appeal

The family of teenager James Corfield who went missing at the Royal Welsh Show have made a heartbreaking appeal for his safe return.

Mountain rescue crews have been searching the River Wye today as the hunt James, 19, goes on.

The teenager from Montgomery, has been missing from the show in Builth Wells since Monday evening.

James’ aunt, Gill Corfield, has released a statement on behalf of the family.

She said: “We are appealing to the public for help in finding our son, James. James was last seen in the White Horse Hotel on Monday night at approximately midnight.

“He was in Builth Wells for the Royal Welsh Show and was camping with friends. We are desperate as a family for any small piece of information that anyone may have regarding his whereabouts.

“We are beside ourselves as a family and are desperate for news. We are incredibly grateful for the volunteers who are helping to search for him.

“We are asking people to look at James' pictures and try to remember where they have seen him. He was last seen wearing a royal blue Abercrombie polo shirt with a white logo, dark blue jeans and light brown deck shoes.

“We love you James, please come back safe.”

A number of other people met at the Greyhound Hotel in Builth Wells today ahead of a search for James.

Powys County Council has also sent a team of 30 people to aid in the search.

Posters have gone up in the search for James

Community members from in Montgomery and across Montgomeryshire are coming together to highlight the situation and are appealing for information into his whereabouts.

Posters have gone up around the Builth Wells, and Dyfed-Powys Police and Crime Commissioner Dafydd Llewellyn tweeted:

Superintendent Huw Meredith said: “James was reported missing yesterday afternoon after he didn’t turn up to meet his family at the Royal Welsh Show. We know that James was last seen at around midnight on Monday the 24thof July, at the White Horse public house.

“We have now been searching for James for over 24 hours and are growing increasingly concerned.

“On behalf on Dyfed-Powys Police I would like to thank the public for their offers of support to help find James, and ask that local people assist the investigation by checking their gardens, sheds and other outbuildings for any signs of James.

“I would like to reassure the public that police officers are following all possible lines of enquiry and are being assisted by specialist search teams around Builth Wells, today."

He is described as being 6ft 2 inches tall, of slim build, with short brown hair. He was last seen wearing a blue Abercrombie and Fitch shirt and jeans.

Police are asking that local people assist the investigation by checking their gardens, sheds and other outbuildings for any signs of James.
