In the first of the two separate assaults, two women stepped outside the Vine Pub on Mill Street at about 1.45am on March 31.

A man came from the pub and, after talking with the women, punched one in the face.

While her friend was trying to help her up from the ground, another women exited the pub and attacked the second victim.

The pair sustained injuries to their faces but did not require treatment.

In a second incident outside the same pub on the April 6, a woman was approached in an alley near to the pub and, after shouting at her, hit her in the face.

The side of her head hit the wall, leaving her with considerable bruising.

A woman with blonde hair joined the man in the alley and tried taking the victim's phone from her.

Police are looking for a man described as white, aged between 35 and 40 and bald, with one arm in a sling. The woman is white and a similar age.

PC Julie Ellis said: "These were particularly vicious and unprovoked attacks on three women on two separate occasions. We take reports of this nature extremely seriously and are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the assaults to please get in touch."

Anybody with information is asked to call police on 101.
