Bridgnorth arts trail set to be bigger and better this summer

Following the success of its first year, the Bridgnorth Open House Arts Trail will return in 2019.

Bosses behind the event, which will take place on the weekend of June 8 and 9, said that it would be even better.

The trail sees people opening their homes to visitors to showcase various art styles.

Jacqueline Miller, of the organising committee, said: "The idea for a trail last year was prompted by similar events committee members had visited in two or three different towns across the country. It was felt that we could take the model of artists displaying their work in their own homes or studios but put a different slant on a Bridgnorth trail by encouraging local residents to get more involved by offering display space in their homes or business premises.

"The response last year was superb and the feedback we had from the hundreds of people who followed the trail was that it was wonderful to view the artists work in a home setting.

"The success of the 2018 trail also enabled the committee to make a donation of £1,000 to last year's chosen charity, Bridgnorth Community First Responders."

Vicky Commander, who is also on the committee, said: “We have been delighted with the response from the artists who displayed their work at last year’s inaugural event and who have expressed their wish to be involved with this year’s trail in June, with approaching 30 already confirmed.

"We will also be holding a ‘Hosts’ meeting from 7pm on February 4 at The Shakespeare pub in West Castle Street, Bridgnorth, for those who would like to offer their home or business premises this year as a space for an artist."

More information on this year’s Bridgnorth Open House Arts trail, including when and where visitors can purchase tickets and this years chosen charity, will be released in the coming weeks.
