Police called over man on Bridgnorth bridge

Bridgnorth police were called after a man was seen on a bridge on the wrong side of a barrier.

Officers received numerous calls from members of the public after seeing a man on the stone bridge in Low Town, Bridgnorth, on the wrong side of the barrier.

Police headed to the scene at about 2pm on Monday, but details have only just been released.

On arrival, officers found members of the public had restrained the man.

A spokesman for Bridgnorth Safer Neighbourhood Team said: “Police community support officer Jacqui Fletcher was the first officer on the scene and she got the man into the police car to prevent him from trying to get back over the wrong side of the bridge.

“On the arrival of further police officers, The man was detained for his own safety and taken to hospital where he was assessed by medical professionals.”
