Marina Whyton, 75, was shopping in Bridgnorth on Saturday afternoon with her husband Terry, 76, when she noticed her wedding ring was no longer on her finger.

The couple had visited Bridgnorth Market at about 3pm before going into the nearby Sainsbury’s store.

Mrs Whyton, of Eardington, said: “I was in the queue at Sainsbury’s when I noticed it was missing.

“I looked up and down the aisles and reported it in there. We went back to the market but we couldn’t find it there.

“We’re been married for 55 years and I’ve had the same ring all that time. I never take it off.

“I was speechless. It’s really upset me.”

The 10mm barrel ring is 24 carat gold.

Anyone with information can call Mrs Whyton on 01746 218746.
