Children from Bridgnorth came together at Oldbury Wells School on Saturday to play a tournament to raise money for Rupert's Revenge.

Rupert Beckett, six, a student at Castlefields Primary School, was diagnosed with stage-four high-risk neuroblastoma at the age of three and has already had two years of chemotherapy, but now needs treatment in America, totalling £750,000.

His family have been raising money for him through the Rupert's Revenge appeal to help him to receive the pioneering immunotherapy.

The community has rallied together and, in just a couple of months, has hit more than 10 per cent of the target.

This is the latest in a series of events for Rupert, which included a Toddle Waddle last weekend and has also seen hundreds of people sign up for this year's Bridgnorth Lion's Walk in his honour.

Youngsters in the competition played for a special cup, with money raised going towards Rupert's appeal.

Rob Edwards, who organised the event, said that they believe that it has raised about £1,000.

Wrekin Tigers were the winners of the Champions League, with Nova being the Europa League winners, with a total of 12 local teams taking part

Wolves Ladies player Claire Hakeman was on hand to help present trophies at the tournament, which had been sponsored by John Cannaby Associates Ltd, which also made a donation on the day, as well as sending out volunteers to help.

Despite a spot of rain, Mr Edwards said the event went even better than planned.

He said: "It was a really great day, everyone did really well and said how much they have enjoyed themselves.

"People came down and helped out, donated cakes and drinks, it has been fantastic."

Though the competition was a one-off, Mr Edwards said its success may now see it brought back as an annual event
