Welcome to this week's selection of nostalgia photos from the pages of the Shropshire Star.
Twenty five delegates of local authorities from all over the world visited Dawley New Town in September 1968 – its successor Telford New Town was destined to be announced just a few weeks later. Here some of the representatives are seen at the Sutton Hill estate, looking at a Shropshire Star picture of their visit. (Not this picture, obviously).
Turn back the clock to this day in 2013 and this To Let sign had been placed on the world famous Iron Bridge over the River Severn. And if you look at the date you'll realise why this was a one-day only offer.
As nobody is holding their nose, it can't be too bad. These are members of the staff of the Severn River Authority who visited Telford Development Corporation's multi million pound pollution control works at Coalport on August 16, 1973. Water pollution control officer John Eddleston (centre) was showing the party round.
Think you know vintage cars? Go on then, identify this one pictured in Oswestry in about 1961. Having a close look is Ian Lucas, who worked in the town at the Border Counties Advertizer. The car was at a nearby garage. The car was later bought by a motor engineer, Maurice Bethell, and subsequently went to a museum in Scotland. That's a clue to what the car was – an Arrol Aster, which was a Scottish make.
Just look at those individual wooden desks... This picture was taken at St Edward's College, Cheswardine Hall, and shows pupils in one of the classrooms. It is another photo from the collection of one of the pupils, Michael Billington, who is not himself on the picture. St Edward's was a Catholic boarding school which moved to Liverpool in 1968.
Between 1950 and July 1968 Cheswardine Hall near Market Drayton was home to a Catholic boarding school called St Edward's College. This picture is from 1960s pupil Michael Billington and shows him in his dormitory with his mother and sister.
