Pictures From The Past - July 27Welcome to this week's collection of nostalgia photos from the pages of the Shropshire Star.By Toby NealPublished Jul 27, 2018 CommentsDon’t worry, you’re not seeing double. Well, actually, you are, but to make sense of these images you need to get out your stereoscope (and please don’t say you haven’t got one) and they will merge magically into one image, which will be 3D to boot. This stereoscope picture is from the collection of the late John Dixon, of Bridgnorth, and shows a group having tea al fresco, quite possibly somewhere in the Bridgnorth area, but we don’t know exactly where. It looks to be at around the turn of 19th and 20th centuries. A stereoscope allowed two photographs of the same object taken at slightly different angles to be viewed together, creating an impression of depth and solidity.
