No further Covid deaths reported in Shropshire

There continue to have been no further Covid deaths in Shropshire, according to government figures.

The latest figures show the continuing slowdown in the rate of Covid deaths

Across the UK there have been four more Covid deaths, taking the total number of people to have died within 28 days of a positive Covid-19 test to 127,609.

To date there have been 595 deaths with Covid at Shropshire's NHS trusts – 554 at Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust, 34 at Shropshire Community Health Trust, and seven at The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital near Oswestry.

Figures from the Office for National Statistics show that 296 people have also died with the virus at county care homes – 219 in Shropshire and 77 in Telford & Wrekin.

In Powys 268 people are confirmed as having died with Covid since the pandemic began.

The number of vaccinations in the UK has reached 53,328,845 – 35,472,295 first doses and 17,856,550 second doses.
