No further county Covid deaths but Powys toll rises by two

The last Covid death at a county hospital now came more than 30 days ago, according to official figures.

The latest figures show that two more patients have died with the virus in Powys.

The latest update from NHS England shows that the last patient to die with Covid at an NHS Trust in the county died on March 21 – 31 days ago.

It means that the Covid death toll in the county remains the same – 595 at Shropshire NHS trusts – 554 of which came at Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust, 34 at Shropshire Community Health Trust, and seven at the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital near Oswestry.

The number of deaths in county care homes also remains 296 – 219 in Shropshire and 77 in Telford & Wrekin.

In Powys the number of Covid deaths has risen by two according to the Office for National Statistics, and now stands at 267.

Across the UK another 18 people have died with the virus, taking the total to 127,345.
