No increase in Shropshire's Covid toll

Shropshire's major hospitals have again reported no deaths from Covid – with the last now 29 days ago.

NHS England figures confirmed no further coronavirus deaths at any of the county's NHS trusts today.

It means that the Covid death toll for the county's hospitals remains 595.

Since the pandemic began 554 people have died with Covid at Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust (SaTH), 34 at Shropshire Community Health Trust, and seven at The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital near Oswestry.

The last Covid death at any of the organisations was March 21, at SaTH.

The number of people to have died at county care homes with Covid is 296, while in Powys the Covid death toll stands at 266.

Across the UK there were only four more Covid deaths reported today – taking the total to 127,274.

The total number of vaccinations has reached 43,084,487 – 32,932,448 first doses, and 10,152,039 second doses.

In the Midlands, 5,369,031 first doses of the coronavirus vaccine has been administered, while 1,521,701 second doses have been carried out.

The data includes vaccinations carried out between December 8 and April 18.
