No further Coronavirus deaths recorded at Shropshire hospitals

No further coronavirus deaths have been recorded in Shropshire's hospitals, although three were recorded in Powys.

It means that the current Covid death toll at county NHS trusts remains 595 – 554 at Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust, 34 at Shropshire Community Health Trust, and seven at The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital near Oswestry.

According to the ONS 294 people have died in county care homes with Covid – 219 in the Shropshire Council area, and 77 in the Telford & Wrekin Council area.

Figures also show that 265 people have died with the virus in Powys, a rise of three.

NHS England confirmed a further 33 deaths on Friday, meaning 86,543 have now died in the country's hospitals after testing positive for Covid-19.

Meanwhile, 32,270,892 vaccinations have been carried out across England to date – including first and second doses.

In the Midlands, 5,237,664 first doses of the coronavirus vaccine has been administered, while 920,209 second doses have been carried out.

The data includes vaccinations carried out between December 8 and April 8.
