Telford MP Lucy Allan has urged people to take up the Covid vaccine after she received one herself.

Mrs Allan said: "I encourage everyone to take up the vaccine when their time comes.

"They are our exit route out of the pandemic and provide protection for ourselves and those around us."

Mrs Allan was speaking after being vaccinated at the mass vaccination hub at Telford International Centre.

During her visit she spoke with nurses and volunteers who have been delivering the programme.

She said: "I was delighted today to receive my first dose of the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine.

"The process was quick and simple and is a real testament to the fantastic work of our local volunteers who have contributed so much to the national effort against Covid.

"There was plenty of parking and a very short wait time prior to your appointment. I was made to feel very welcome by the brilliant staff and volunteers at the International Centre and was in and out within 30 minutes.

"The jab was totally painless – I barely felt a thing. It is a real relief to have that first layer of protection against coronavirus and I look forward to receiving my second dose."
