Covid: Further nine patients die at Shropshire hospitals

A further nine patients with coronavirus have died at hospitals in Shropshire.

NHS England confirmed the patients died while in the care of the Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust (SaTH).

It brings the total death count at hospitals throughout the county to 349.

Of that total, 324 people have died while in the care of SaTH, which runs Royal Shrewsbury Hospital and Telford’s Princess Royal Hospital, along with 20 at Shropshire Community Health Trust and five at the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital near Oswestry.

Meanwhile, 147 people are thought to have died with coronavirus in Powys since the start of the pandemic, according to the Office for National Statistics (ONS).
