Dr Adam Booth, based at Prescott Surgery, near Shrewsbury, will talk about his experiences at Theatre Severn on March 17.

Dr Booth became one of fewer than 50 people in the world to have scaled both mountains in successive days during his expedition in May last year.

But he came within yards of an even more remarkable feat when he attempted to scale Nuptse the day after that.

He came within 218 yards of Nuptse's summit on the third day of the expedition, but was forced to give up. Had he made it to the top, he would have become just the third person in the world to do so.

It was Dr Booth's second ascent of the world's highest peak, having previously climbed Everest in 2013.

Tickets for the lecture, which starts at 5pm, are priced £5, with all proceeds going to the Climbers Against Cancer and Nepal Youth Foundation charities. For more information email Dr Booth at Adambooth@NHS.net
