Oswestry Hospital one of the best to work for
Oswestry's Orthopaedic Hospital is the best NHS organisation to work for in the country – according to the results of the National NHS Staff Survey 2018 published this week.
More than 79 per cent of staff at the specialist orthopaedic hospital said they would recommend working there in the annual survey, which covers every NHS employer in England. That is up 8 per ent over the last two years.
It also showed that 94 per cent of staff would recommend the Oswestry-based organisation as a place for friends or relatives to be treated, putting it in the top two trusts in the country alongside the Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital.
The findings come less than a week after the publication of RJAH’s latest inspection report from the Care Quality Commission (CQC), which showed it to be rated ‘Good’ overall and ‘Outstanding’ for care.
Mark Brandreth, Chief Executive of RJAH, said: “These are some truly remarkable findings that really throw the spotlight on the progress we are making.
“Seen alongside our CQC Report that was published last week, it paints a picture of an organisation that has taken some huge leaps forward.
"That is not to say we are being complacent – the report helps us identify areas where we can look to make even further progress over the next 12 months.”
The survey showed that 79 per cent of staff felt able to put forward ideas to improve the service offered in their area of work, while there has been a 15 per cent increase in the last couple of years in the number of staff saying they felt able to actually make their improvement ideas happen.
Mr Brandreth added: "There are some areas where we can do better, and we will work together to address those,” said Mark.
“But overall this really is an outstanding set of survey results. They make me so proud and re-confirm what I already knew – that we have the best staff in the NHS.”
