Brookside chef Dorcas Kimani says she is over the moon with her bouncing new son who arrived at 7.33am weighing 8lbs 1oz.

"He's gorgeous. All my children look like my partner Martin," she said.

"I've been at the hospital since Sunday after my waters broke. We were watching Dwayne Johnson's action movie Rampage when it happened. That's what did it, but when I got here I wasn't in labour.

"They kept me in for observations and then the doctors decided to induce me. He was born soon after.

"His siblings are going choose his name when they come to see him.

"It has been tiring, but so worth it and to give birth on New Year's Day is pretty special," the 34-year-old added.

Dorcas says she was looking forward to the moment when her older children Jess, 10, Zion, eight, and Isaiah, six, see their new brother for the first time.

She was among four proud mothers to give birth early at the hospital.

Others included Hollie Delaney, who gave birth to a daughter weighing 7lbs 13oz at 3.50am followed by Joanne Williams who gave birth to a son weighing 8lbs 14oz at 4.55am.

Labour co-ordinator at the delivery suite, Paula Pryce, said: "With four babies so far it's been quite relaxed. On New Year's Eve we had six births. Everyone is in high spirits and we have got lots of proud moms who are all very happy.

"When the moms are happy it makes the staff happy too."
