Shropshire Council is looking for a care provider to take over the running of Four Rivers Nursing Home.

The 40-bed home in Bromfield Road is currently rated as "good" by the Care Quality Commission.

But an outside operator to manage the home is being sought as part of a "redesign" of the authority's adult social care services.

The contract is set to run from February 1 next year.

Applications for the tender must be made by noon on August 4 this year for the multi-million poundcontract.

A notice of tender issued by Shropshire Council says: "Shropshire Council is seeking a care provider who is registered with Care Quality Commission, and with previous experience of operating a nursing care home, to manage Four Rivers Nursing Home Ludlow, Shropshire.

"Four Rivers Nursing Home was purpose built under the sponsorship of a Private Finance Initiative and was opened in 2006.

"It has 40 single bedrooms all with ensuite facilities. Currently 30 beds are designated as nursing and 10 beds as nursing with dementia.

"It provides nursing care for older people with assessed nursing needs who are eligible for fully funded continuing health care funding, people who are eligible for care funded by the local authority and for people who fund their own care.

"The Council will be seeking to retain nomination rights on a minimum of 10 nursing beds at the care home."

The council said the contract is for a period of 10 years initially, with the option to extend for further periods of five years up to September 2036. Bidders are required to set out in their financial model the level of rent that they would pay for each year of the initial 10 year contract term.

"If the initial contract term is extended then the rent will be subject to a review for each contract period thereafter," it says.

The care home was last inspected in October, and rated Good in all categories across the board.
