The Parry family, at Coedygear, Llansilin, run a beef and sheep farm, but are hoping to diversify by building the tourism huts.

The application is to change the use of agricultural land to build the units, along with a parking area.

Agents Robert Parry and Partners explained in a design and access statement how the development would offer extra income to the business.

It said: "Mr and Mrs Parry along with their son Mr G Parry run an established beef and sheep farm. Mr and Mrs Parry wish to diversify the income produced on the farm to support their family and ensure the viability of the unit.

"The proposed development is set down the road from the farm allowing the huts to be set in their own land with views of the adjoining countryside.

"No further planting is proposed but the applicants are willing to work with the local authority should further landscaping be deemed necessary and a landscaping plan could be provided.

"The site is within the ownership of DM & JR Parry can provide an opportunity for the family to gain an additional income.

"Mr and Mrs Parry realise the need to diversify to improve the sustainability of the farm and provide an additional income. Farm diversification is of increasing importance to those with an interest in agriculture and rural communities as a whole.

"With rising uncertainty in farming, diversification offers a way of supplementing incomes and improving the economic viability of a farm business."

The agent goes on to explain how the application fits with guidance and policies, and how there will be minimal landscape impact.
