At the End of Year Meal, the club raised £1,600 with a promise auction. Lots given by local businesses or members themselves included a meat hamper, shooting lesson and a Kubota umbrella that sold for £96.

Members are now gearing up for the busy festive fundraising period.

Club chairman Laura Wilde said: “Carol singing is one of our best fundraisers over the festive period. We visit homes of Dorrington YFC family and friends enjoy a mulled wine and sausage roll or two and they kindly donate to our chosen charities. We also go to local pubs to enjoy it as a social evening too. Any new members wanting to join in the fun, this is a great way to become involved - we put the fun into fundraising. ”

Maria Jones from Midlands Air Ambulance said: “We really appreciate donations from organisations such as young farmers. The Midlands Air Ambulance survives purely off contributions given to us and we don’t rely on any Government funding or grants, so it makes a huge difference.”

Dorrington Young Farmers meet every Wednesday of the month and the club is open to anyone aged 10 to 26 - no farming background is needed.
