Red House Farm, in Aberhafesp, near Newtown, is one of the biggest farm estates to become available in Mid Wales for a number of years.

It is being sold as a whole or in eight lots by agents Halls on behalf of the beneficiaries of the estate of the late Arthur Davies.

Mr Davies, who died in November 2011, was a dairy farmer and stock-breeder who lived at Red House Farm for most of his life.

Following his death, his herd of pedigree Holsteins was sold off by his family and now the farm has been placed on the market.

The farm, in the Severn Valley, has livestock, dairy and arable enterprises, with 66,000sq ft of farm buildings and four residential properties.

Halls say the farm could be sold as one lot or split into eight depending on interest from buyers.

James Evans, one of the firm's directors, said: "Farms of this size rarely come to market within the region."

He said with the range of residential properties, the size, type and quality of the modern farm buildings and land, they were expecting interest from a diverse range of prospective buyers.

The land has been used primarily for the production of grass, maize and arable crops, but could also be adapted for beef and sheep farming.

He said it had been run as a dairy farm for a number of years, having been home to the Hafesp pedigree Holstein herd.

Mr Evans said that while he expects plenty of immediate interest in the farm as a whole lot, Halls are prepared to split it into eight separate lots. Viewing is by appointment with Halls at The Old Coach Chambers, Welshpool, on (01938) 555552.
