Bill Oddie in Twitter attack on MP Owen Paterson
Owen Paterson today defended his plans for a summer badger cull after television presenter Bill Oddie launched an online attack on the Environment Secretary.
The north Shropshire MP said he used 'evidence and fact' when making decisions that affect the environment rather than 'emotion or strong language.'
Mr Paterson was speaking after Mr Oddie took to Twitter arguing that British wildlife was 'not safe' while Mr Paterson was in the high-profile cabinet post.
He told his 16,500 followers:
Today Mr Paterson said he does what is best for the environment based on evidence. He said: "Until we get a vaccine for TB, which will take 10 years, we have to use all the tools at our disposal to tackle the problem of TB in cattle."
