Probe after a fire at derelict Telford house

An investigation has been launched after a fire at a derelict house in Telford today.

Two fire crews tackled the blaze, which started in the kitchen of a detached property in Lincoln Road in Wrockwardine Wood. The fire then spread to the first floor.

The crews from Telford Central and Wellington were sent to the scene just after 7.50am and the situation was under control by 8.10am.

Crews used a hosereel jet to tackle the fire and an operations officer was in attendance.

Vicky Smith, spokeswoman for West Mercia Police, said: "We received reports of a fire at a premises on Lincoln Road in Telford. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.

"Investigations are ongoing."

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service tweeted saying: "At 7.52am Wellington crews attended a derelict property set on fire in Lincoln Road, Wrockwardine Wood, Telford."
