Cyclist injured after collision with car in Shrewsbury

A cyclist was injured in a collision with a car on the outskirts of Shrewsbury today.

The accident happened just before 11.30am on the roundabout at Harlescott Lane and Vanguard Way.

West Midlands Ambulance Service were called to the scene of the accident at 11.27am and a rapid response car found a man in his 50s who had suffered minor injuries and a woman in shock.

An ambulance was called to the incident and the man, who had suffered a chest injury was conveyed to hospital.

Due to the siting of the accident, traffic backed up on approach roads while the incident was dealt with.

Murray McGregor, spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service, said: "There were some traffic issues in the area due to accident happening on the roundabout.

"We were called at 11.27am and man got to hospital at 12.27pm where he underwent X-rays.

"The woman who was in the car was not injured."
