Skip fire spreads to Telford tyre firm unit

A skip fire damaged a garage when it spread to nearby business premises today.

Fire crews from Telford Central and Tweedale were called to Kensington Way in Oakengates shortly before 6.50am to reports of a fire at ATS Euromaster.

John Jones, on-site manager for ATS, said: "The fire spread into the store room of the tyre and MoT centre, causing heat damage to a roller shutter door, damage to electric cables and setting fire to the roof."

Police are investigating the cause.

Fire crews were also called to a caravan fire at a scrap yard in Whitchurch Drive, Wellington, last night.

And firefighters were also called to a blaze in a garage at a house in Ashworth Way, Newport, at 11am today.
