Pupils at Whitchurch Junior School recently participated in a garden design competition run by David Wilson Homes.

Pupils on the school's Eco Team, made up of three pupils from each year group, were tasked with designing gardens to give them an insight into the process of landscaping for new homes. The competition entries will be used as future inspiration for David Wilson Homes gardens.

The homebuilder selected Year 3 pupil, Alfie Owen, 8, as the winner and he was given a Toys R Us voucher as his prize.

Steve Barton, senior sales manager at David Wilson Homes Mercia, said: "We love Alfie's garden design particularly the fruit trees and vegetable patch. We hope all the children who participated found designing a garden interesting and we're happy that we could give the pupils the chance to be a landscaper for a day."

Miss Evans, Year 3 teacher at Whitchurch Junior School, said, "The design competition was a great opportunity for our school Eco Team to get creative.

"The children put a lot of consideration into what it is that people like about gardens, some even conducted research by asking their family and friends."

The homebuilder is currently building a range of three and four bedroom homes at The Mounts on Wellfield Way in Whitchurch. Homes are available to buy now and prices start from £225,000.
