Robert Weaver and Angela Weaver, both 52, both denied an offence of blackmail and an offence of requiring a person to perform forced labour in Telford between June 3, 2015 and October 5, 2019.

The defendants appeared by telephone at a remote hearing held Shrewsbury Crown Court on Thursday and pleaded not guilty.

The forced labour allegations were brought under the Modern Slavery Act 2015.

The matter was adjourned until September 13 when the pair, of Consett, Durham, will be required to attend in person.
