Shrewsbury man denies rape charge

A Shrewsbury man will stand trial later this year after denying an allegation of rape.

Gregory Hill, 31, appeared at Shrewsbury Crown Court yesterday to plead not guilty to a single count of raping a woman.

The court heard that the alleged incident took place in 2017.

Hill, of Alma Street in Shrewsbury, was joined in the dock by an intermediary.

Judge Peter Barrie said that stage dates to prepare for the trial had been set, with the trial itself due to start on June 7 this year.
