Woman, 78, suffers bruising in Telford street assault

A 78-year-old woman woman suffered bruising to her wrists when she was assaulted in a Telford street.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the pensioner was grabbed by a man in Plough Road, Wellington, at around 4pm on Wednesday.

The victim was walking from King Street towards Church Street when she was approached by a man who grabbed at her wrists.

The man then ran off in the direction of Wellington town centre and turned left into Church Street at the end of Plough Road.

He is described as white, of slim build and approximately 5ft 7ins tall, with light brown hair.

West Mercia Police said inquiries were ongoing. Anyone with information should contact the force on 101 quoting reference 00732_I_01102020.
