Arrest as Telford 'assault' leaves man seriously injured

A man was left with serious head injuries following an 'altercation' between two men in Telford.

Woodhouse Central in Telford town centre was closed off as police investigated the incident that happened at Woodhouse Central Car Park at around 7.30pm on Saturday.

A 36-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault after an altercation took place between two men that resulted in one man in his 30s suffering serious head injuries.

The victim is currently in hospital receiving medical care. He is in a stable condition.

Detective Sergeant Steve Goddard said: "A 36-year-old man from Telford was arrested on suspicion of assault and was taken to Malinsgate Police Station.

"While we believe this to be an isolated incident we’d like anyone with any information or who may have mobile phone or dash cam footage, to please get in touch."

The arrested man has now been release on police bail.

Woodhouse Central has since reopened.
