By Jonny Drury | Mid Wales | Crime | Published:

A fake food inspector demanding money for re-inspections is doing the rounds in Mid Wales.

Reports have been made of a male scammer going around businesses in Powys claiming to work for trading standards.

The fraudster has been going around and trying to claim money for re-inspections.

Reports have been made to Powys County Council's Environmental Health Service, which has issued a warning saying it is a scam.

In a post on Twitter, the service said: "We're hearing reports of a man claiming to work for the FSA visiting food businesses and demanding money for a re-inspection, as failure to pay will result in a fine. THIS IS A SCAM!!

"If this happens, call us on 01597 827467 or tweet or environmental.health@powys.gov.uk"
